Trey has been a trooper lately...Last weekend he took Cade on the Adventure Guide Camp out. It was about 40 minutes away and at the YMCA camp ground. They have cabins they could sleep in, but Trey always selects to sleep in the tent he brings with our boy. This weekend was the Boy Scout camp out with Kyle in Michigan (see photo above). This time there is no cabin to fall back on...it is the real wilderness....thank goodness Trey loves this stuff....I don't and don't think things will EVER change. BUT, the picture above does have me thinking.....well....still no! I like a shower, running water and a heater running all night...call me silly :).

Happy Birthday Cade
It's hard to believe that my "baby" is 7....7....what happened to 1 2 3 4 5 and 6?
We watched the video this morning at breakfast of the day Cade was born. Hard to believe that was 7 years ago today and he was ever that small. I could not be any prouder of my 7 years old, he is loved by all and quite the charmer....

Trey and I gave him his birthday gift 5 days early this year. He got a new bike from us and with the weather being so bad lately we wanted him to have a chance to wear some rubber off the tires before it was put away for winter. So glad we did....We gave him the bike on Sunday night....he was able to ride it Mon., Tues. and Wednesday after school in 60+ degrees and dry weather....today...his actual birthday, it is 48 degrees and we have had about 4 1/2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours.

Since my computer and typepad seem to be getting along today...I'll take advantage of it....I was FINALLY able to down load the rest of the pictures to my previous post...If you have time please check them out. Maybe if I were more computer friendly and had more time I could do this....but typepad and my computer seem to have been at war lately....maybe the cold war has ended!
October in Chicago is usually one or my favorite times of the year...along with all other Chicagoans. Cool days, crisp nights and an incredible watercolored landscape with the tree's moving from green to yellow, then gold, red then fire...you get the idea. Well, this year the weather has had a mind of it's own... Winter was colder and snowier, Summer, what Summer? and Fall is not disappointing us either. October has been the coolest and wettest in 128 years. Enough is enough...I was able to catch a couple of pictures of our nonexistence Fall...we had about 2 days where the leave changed and were 'glowing' before more rain and wind knocked off there leaves for the winter ahead...

An anniversary, 2 birthdays and a bike
October is always a busy time in our house. We are getting ready for fall and Winter here which means switching summer clothes for winter clothes (think flip flops for snow boots and shorts for ski pants-you get the idea) and with 4 people to this for it takes a while. Trey and I also got married in October....October 3, 1998 to be exact....so we celebrated our 11th anniversary at a party...not for us of course, but for a great friends 40th. We ate, drank and danced the night away, very much like we did 11 years ago :) !!
Two people also celebrate birthdays this month....Trey turned 39...and holding on the 10th. We had a great two nights out celebrating with friends and a quite family night here to celebrate his "holding" birthday.
Cade will turn 7 on the 23rd (our 2nd birthday for the month). We had his party a little early this year....with the location, entertainment and Trey's work schedule the 12th was the only day that worked. Cade was thrilled to get in an early celebration...remember he's 7 and is still looking forward to birthdays, unlike us adults that are pushing them away!
We had 19 boys (all in first grade) for a "Magic" party with pizza and cake. It was a huge success for the kids and adults too.....

the long and short of it
As I begin to type I had to move my really, really large glass of wine out of the way. Yes, it has been one of those days were you run, run and run all day and nothing to show from it. Hey, if you pour 2 really, really large glasses it only counts as 2 glasses not a whole bottle, right?
Anyway, I was trying for the boys to have the long 'California surfer look'...long hair, kinda mess....well after having to wet down and then blow dry the boys hair every morning before school I decided that the crew cut look was better suited for my schedule and my type AAA personality...neat and clean :) !

Friday Night Lights
Kyle is playing baseball this fall. This season they are trying to get all the teams to have a night game under the lights. (last Friday was our night)...this is the big league, after all :)!. He is on the White Sox's again...we don't like to discuss it (GO CUBS). Kyle is continuing to enjoy baseball and really enjoying playing catcher and this Mom could not be any more proud of him!
And this is what Cade was up too...I did not ask the Mom permission to have her daughter on this blog, so hope I don't get in trouble....but these pictures, just to dang stink'n cute not to post...when they are together I could just gobble them BOTH up....future-daughter-in law??? I can only hope and be so lucky!!!!!
school days, school days, good old fashion rule days....
Well, school FINALLY began here on September 11th. After a really long summer vacation EVERYONE was ready for it to begin again. It still blows me away that I have kids in 1st and 3rd grade....where has the time gone? Here are the boys on there first day (Kyle almost did not amuse me with "First day photos", after convincing him know one would see, he obliged me). This may be the last year that I get him....they do grow up and want to fly....
